The Bellingham Chapter will be sponsoring the 2013 Bellingham Salmon Derby. This will once again be a 3 day derby. The Derby will begin at daybreak on Friday, July 12, run all day Saturday July 13, and close at noon on Sunday July 14. The awards ceremony will be held at 1:00 Sunday afternoon in Bellingham at the harbor. We will once again be part of the Northwest Salmon Derby Series so every contestant gets a ticket to the boat raffle put on by the NWSD. We expect fishing to be excellent again this year. The last two years we have had tremendous fishing during the derby. Multiple fish in the 30 pound range have been recorded both years. And literally hundreds in the 20 pound range. This is just a great time to fish the San Juan Islands (Area 7). Take advantage of this opportunity to visit the beautiful San Juan Islands. Plan a family camping trip at one of the many State Parks found in the Islands or stay in one of the beautiful resorts found throughout the Islands. Tickets will go on sale June 1, 2013.

“BEST FISHING I’VE EVER SEEN”

That was the comment we heard over and over from the contestants in the Bellingham Salmon Derby held July 8,9 and 10, 2011. Perfect weather saw over 350 adults and children compete for the $5,000 first place price in the 7th annual Bellingham Salmon Derby, sponsored by the Bellingham Chapter of The Puget Sound Anglers.
